Taichi is an ancient self-healing exercise without using Qi

In June 2013, I have just realized that Beijing has made a mistake in 1956 when they set up new standards for all taichi styles in order to promote taichi as a sport to the whole country/world. It had good intentions but bad consequences. The short and fast moving new standard taichi forms invented during that time and afterward) have caused the inherent self-healing property of taichi (for internal organs including brains) disappear totally. People at that time were so engrossed in Qi and Ying/Yang, and did not know what exactly caused good health.

Because of the disappearing of self-healing effect after 1956 as more people are teaching the new taichi forms, people with health problems turned to other groups who claimed that they can heal. As a result, many qigong style masters including falungong and all sorts of funny clans prospered during the 80's and 90's.

Anyway, the whole bunch of new standard taichi's is still a good low-impact or no-impact cardiovascular sport which is still very good for the healing of joints and muscles when one is young and healthy. Now, if we can urge Beijing to bring back the self-healing property of taichi (which does not involve qi at all) by doing the old long forms at the old speed (at least half or a third of the speed of current short forms) and breathe longer/deeper as a result, we can save many more lives and prevent many chronic or serious illnesses.

As I mentioned before, the healing part of taichi has nothing to do with Qi. It is only a very effective tool to guide oxygenated blood to all capillaries inside our internal organs and brains simultaneously, and let them grow new cells with normal DNA's in a shotgun approach. Everyday 25 minutes (just one set of Yang 85 forms) will be good enough.

You may view my main theory Pao’s Law of Exercise posted in my Google Plus account under my name Pao Yen, or https://plus.google.com/110195928874930538136/posts?.

Note: Yoga and some of the Qigong breathing exercises are using the same theory which does not involve Qi or Ying and Yang at all.  But you may have to spend an hour longer unless you also slow down the movements.

The Turning Point - A Sudden Bout Of Improvements From Head to Toe

I had been doing taichi ( the fast moving type) for more than 10 years. Then, I stopped doing it did because it did not help my digestive system or improve my blood pressure and blood sugar. The only benefit was that it can heal my joint injuries faster, quite noticeably. Anyway, I restarted my taichi 2 years later in 2011 and learned all the proper steps from a Taichi Sifu, Mr. Mak, in Hong Kong. The turning point was in December 2012, I came across an article on brain improvement from taichi. I became quite interested and started my own research and experiments in 2013.

In February, when I started to slow down my taichi to prove my new theory, the following things happened.

After 2 weeks:

- my bloodshot eyes (for years) suddenly got cleared up.

- my blood pressure started to drop 5 units per week.

After 2 months:

- The dark patches on my skin on my feet (due to diabetic condition) started to lighten up.

- I got to reduce my high blood medicine by 1/3 because my BP dropped to 110 and I began to feel dizzy.

After 4 months:

- My overall skin color from head to toe has improved and my skin would not turn dry and flaky in air-conditioned rooms as easy as before.

- My BP dropped below 100 before my Seoul trip 2 weeks ago and then it went up to 115 after eating some ginseng black chicken and BBQ beef. Two weeks after the trip, my BP now is 103/63.

How slow is slow? My simple answer is that you imagine yourself doing taichi in a chest-deep water pool and that you should not be making waves when you move.

I do not mean that one must do slow taichi to have these results. I expected that one can apply my theory to other exercises, i.e. to ramp up your heart beat slightly, and then stop moving completely for a minute to do deep breathing. Repeat it over and over for an hour or more. I believe that it can bear the same results as slow taichi. In other words, slow taichi is more efficient than other exercises (for internal organs and brain) and it can do all the goodness within 25 minutes. Of course, if you want to train up your muscles, you can do fast taichi or any other faster sports.
